Terms of use

Last updated: [publication date]

These terms govern your use of JSON Mill, available at jsonmill.com (the "Service"), operated by [legal entity name] ("JSON Mill", "we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.

1. The Service

JSON Mill is a free tool for viewing, validating, editing, transforming and converting JSON and related data formats. Most processing happens in your browser. Optional accounts let you save documents and create share links.

We may add, change or remove features at any time. We may also introduce advertising or optional paid features in the future; if we do, the core tools will remain usable for free and any paid features will be clearly labeled before you are charged.

2. Eligibility and accounts

3. Your content

You keep all rights to the data you process, save or share with JSON Mill ("your content"). We do not claim ownership of it.

To provide the Service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, copy, process and display your content only as needed to operate the Service for you: for example, to save your documents, show them to you, and show them to people who have a share link you created. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups that expire on our normal schedule.

You are responsible for your content and for having the right to use it. When you create a share link, anyone who has the link can view that document until the link expires or you stop sharing. Do not save or share content containing passwords, API keys or other secrets.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

We may remove content, disable share links, or suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, and we may report illegal content to the authorities.

5. Limits

The Service applies limits, such as maximum document size, total storage per account and request rates, to keep it fast and free for everyone. We may change these limits. We will try to give notice before reducing limits in a way that affects documents you have already saved.

6. Reporting content and copyright

To report content that violates these terms, use the report option on a shared document or email [abuse@jsonmill.com]. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent at [copyright agent name, address, email] including the information required by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. We respond to valid notices and terminate repeat infringers where appropriate.

7. Our intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, name and logos, belongs to JSON Mill and its licensors. These terms do not give you any right to use the JSON Mill name or logos. Third-party open-source components are used under their own licenses.

8. Feedback

If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them without any obligation to you.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided free of charge "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that conversions, repairs or other outputs will be accurate or complete. Check important results before relying on them, and keep your own copies of important data.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, JSON Mill and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you in full.

11. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold JSON Mill harmless from claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content or your violation of these terms or the law.

12. Ending use

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. If we discontinue the Service, we will give account holders reasonable notice and an opportunity to export their saved documents, unless prevented by law. Sections 3 (as to backups), 7 and 9 through 14 survive termination.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [state/country], without regard to its conflict of law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts located in [county, state], except that either party may seek relief in small claims court. If you live in the EEA or UK, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring claims in its courts.

14. General

These terms and our privacy policy are the entire agreement between you and JSON Mill about the Service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer these terms without our consent; we may transfer them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and update the date above. If a change is material, we will notify account holders by email or through the Service at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.

16. Contact
